Les Mystères du Nautilus (French for “The Mysteries of the Nautilus”) is an attraction at Disneyland Paris in France. An updated version of the popular 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea attraction that was at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA in the early 1950s, based on the movie of the same name. This attraction takes visitors through all the different rooms of Captain Nemo’s submarine, especially those from the movie. It was inaugurated on 4 July 1994.

The submarine is in a lake near Star Wars Hyperspace Mountain. Visitors enter what looks like a lighthouse, and proceed to the attraction through an underwater passageway. Although guests may believe they are visiting a submarine lagoon, an ‘underwater tunnel’ leads them to an exhibition building hidden by tall trees. The winding stairs leading up to the attraction help mislead visitors from seeing this.

Initially, a larger version of this cruise was installed, with additional rooms and an underwater restaurant. It was to be part of the never-built Discovery Mountain project, which was shut down when Disneyland Paris ran into financial problems.

The squid attack was greatly improved in 1994. It started with the organ playing Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata & Fugue in D Minor, and Nemo’s short speech about his sea kingdom. Th, the window opened for visitors to see the depth of the sea, until the big tackle hit the glass. Captain Nemo ordered the window closed, and tried to free the submarine from the squid’s grip. However, water burst from the ceiling and reached the audience, and the jeans ended up bursting. Finally, as the window opened, the visitors could see the whole monster. The electric zaps hit it, but it didn’t let go of the submarine until the zaps got stronger. Due to technical issues, this episode has been accessed.

Disney Imagineer Tom Sherman, who created many drawings and designed models of the Nautilus, was awarded the title “Admiral of the Nautilus” before the meeting. Tim Delaney said, for him, “it’s a dream come true.”

Another attraction is Tokyo DisneySea. However, it is merely an exterior decorative piece on display, lacking the interior counterpart of Disneyland Paris. This place is now used as a meeting place with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy in steampunk costumes. This article requires additional citations for verification. Les Mystères Du Nautilus: Attraction

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (海底2万ノイル) is an attraction at Tokyo DisneySea, based on Jules Verne’s 1870 novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea and the 1954 Disney film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea Sea.

Visitors board a small submarine developed by Captain Nemo and take part in an expedition to explore the world under the sea. This submarine was remotely controlled from the control room where Captain Nemo was, and it should have been protected by that. However, while trying to make the submarine levitate, the submarine was attacked by the Krak and lost control, resulting in it drifting to an unknown land.

The place where the guests were happy was the land of Atlantis where the merms live. They had become their own in an area near the Earth’s core. The submarine was boosted by the mysterious power of the merm, and was able to return to base safely.

This attraction concept is similar to Disneyland’s Submarine Voyage and Magic Kingdom’s separate attraction 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage. This ride does not go through actual water; several effects including bubbles in the window or motion were added. Tomorrowland – The 20, 000 Leagues Under The Sea Exhibit sat in the back of Tomorrowland, almost where the Starcade and gift shop sit today. Visitors can access the fair by following the main road from Main Street USA, or by taking the Skyway from Fantasyland to Tomorrowland.

When Disneyland first opened in 1955, Tomorrowland was a poorly prepared land. Many of the attractions that are ready for Opening Day were never intended to be permanent attractions at the park, and many were installed weeks before the park’s opening to fill space. The Imagineers needed more shows in the back part of Tomorrowland, so they found inspiration in the 1954 film.

. The walkthrough exhibit took guests into the underwater world of the film, and provided a much-needed change of pace from the space-themed attractions in Tomorrowland.

The exhibit was housed in a large circular room, simulating the experience of traveling on a real submarine. Visitors began their tour by walking past an 11-meter ship model, before entering various rooms inside the submarine. The Wheelhouse, Chart Room, Professor Aronnax’s Cabin, Dressing Room, Pump Room, Diving Room, Match Room, and Power Supply Room each have unique displays and interactive features that explain the room’s role on the submarine. During the tour, guests could see kelp, fish, and giant octopus through porthole windows in each room. Finally, the visitors saw the exhibition center, called “The Last Resting Place of the Nautilus”. The exhibit featured the submarine in its final resting place, embedded in a large underwater rock formation.

By the 1960s, Tomorrowland had begun its first of many major renovation and expansion projects, in an effort to keep pace with ever-changing technology and what society saw as “the future”. While some attractions survived the renovation, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was one of the less fortunate. The show closed its doors in 1966, making way for a new, larger ride called Adventure Thru Inner Space.

The organ in the exhibit was the same organ that was used in the film, and is now the organ for the Haunted Mansion’s grand ball.

In 1959, Walt Disney’s bold plans for Tomorrowland included a Monorail, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and a Submarine Voyage to Disneyland Park. Since each of these attractions became instant icons and synonymous with the Disneyland experience, it made sense that the Magic Kingdom would put its own spin on these classics when they opened in 1971. Although the Matterhorn Bobsleds were never seen, the Magic Kingdom did. expanded Monorail system. Then two weeks after the park opened, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: A Submarine Voyage made its debut.

. However, despite its strong following and serving as a wonderful addition to Fantasyland, this classic attraction closed on September 5, 1994. So in today’s installment of Attraction Archeology, we look at 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine. The journey and what remains of it today.

The Magic Kingdom’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: A Submarine Voyage gave guests the opportunity to explore the world beneath the waves, along with its many secrets and dangers.

Guests descended a narrow staircase and sat on Victorian folding chairs facing individual portholes. These portholes were a visitor’s view of the underwater world. The special effects of the bubble outside the glass created the illusion of movement.

During the trip, Captain Nemo acted as the narrator of the trip as his signature music played in the background. He pointed out the unique places that visitors will see outside their porthole such as kelp and coral, fish, sea turtles, crabs, and scuba divers. Things got really interesting when the registrants passed through the waterfall and entered the exhibition building. This is where guests saw shipwrecks and sharks, explored the depths of space ice, and even discovered Atlantis.

Otherwise, sea serpents and mermaids appeared. A good ending? Seeing a giant squid attack a submarine before it attacks a passenger car!

20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage was located in the same Fantasyland location where Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Under the Sea – The Little Mermaid Voyage are today.

The reasons for closing and changing attractions are complex, and we may not know the full stories of why they happen. What we do know is that Submarine Voyage attracted a low volume. It was expensive and in need of maintenance. The attraction was closed suddenly on September 5, 1994 for such repairs. Unfortunately, the lagoon and its subs were left to sit and wait for two years. Finally, in 1996, Disney closed the iconic attraction.

Even though the attraction was no longer accessible, the lake remained with a corner area re-themed as Ariel’s Grotto. Here the guests met Ariel in a rock grotto built to blend with the lagoon.
