Downtown Grand Las Vegas Suite – While there are many reasons Downtown Grand has been my “go-to” Fremont Street casino for some time, it pretty much boils down to value, location, and relative quiet.

While the hotel is solid, my favorite aspect of the property is the casino. Due to its location just off Fremont Street, the gaming floor is generally less crowded and offers the minimum wagering required on table games when compared to peer resorts downtown. When I was there, they had $1 blackjack, $5 and $10 craps, and $5 roulette.

While I’ve stayed in the original Downtown Grand hotel tower before, I haven’t seen the new Gallery Tower that opened in 2020. I rented a Superior Room in the tower, and I’m excited to give it a look inside!

Hotel Rooms & Suites In Downtown Nashville

As I mentioned before when I reviewed the Downtown Grand Premium Room, checking in is painless compared to the mega resorts on the Strip.

The lines are short, and the process is quick. I also received a printout with helpful information about the property including amenity hours, parking info, and even coupons to use across the casino.

I was surprised by the number of black scuff marks left on walls, doors, etc. They seem to be everywhere. While design elements like large numbers on room doors, carpets, and artwork win, cleanliness does not.

Compared to other room offerings at Downtown Grand, Menara Galeri Superior Rooms have a modern, crisp, and clean feel. The bathroom is quite spacious, and the light over the mirror is a nice decorative touch.

The shower has plenty of space and boasts a showerhead that’s about 8 feet tall, which is a huge win when you’re a 6′ 4″ human. There’s nothing worse than having to scramble to shower under a 5 foot tall spigot.

While it’s not a big deal, I wouldn’t know a shower with a glass partition that only extends 1/2 the length of the shower. Maybe I’m dense, but I can’t for the life of me figure out how to prevent water from getting on the bathroom floor.

The bedroom itself is basic, but has a modern, fresh vibe. The two queen beds are comfortable, and two outlets and USB ports are available to power devices.

Along with modern wall art, the room comes with 2 complimentary 12 oz. daily bottled water, ice bucket, iron, ironing board, and safe.

The only disappointing aspect of the room, although not annoying, is the cleanliness. Remember the scuff marks I mentioned looking all over the hallway? This was also inside my hotel room. There are black scuff marks on the walls, baseboards, etc.

Also, the room was clean as a whistle. No dust, debris, or any kind of nastiness to speak of. While the scuffs won’t stop me from staying there again, it seems strange that they are so common on almost every surface of a hotel in a tower that has been open for less than a year.

My favorite aspect of the Superior Hotel Room at the Downtown Grand was how quiet it was. If you’ve ever stayed on Fremont Street, you know how hard it can be to find a hotel room that’s protected from live music, bucket drummers, and other downtown noise. I didn’t hear any noise from outside.

Smudges aside, we found the room worth $107 per night we paid, which included taxes and fees.

Las Vegas’ Hotel And Resort Pools

Citrus Pool Deck: While not among the most spectacular pools in Las Vegas, the Downtown Grand’s rooftop Citrus Pool Deck is among my favorites for its laid-back vibe and lack of crowds. I have never been able to find a lounger… or a large amount of sun.

Budget Dining: The Downtown Grand is one of the cheapest places to eat on Fremont Street for a few reasons.

In addition to these options, the Downtown Grand is also home to Triple George, an upscale steakhouse and Art Bar-turned-coffee shop.

This is what keeps me coming back to Downtown Grand-Gambling. For low to mid-rollers, Downtown Grand is hard to beat as one of the last casinos on Fremont Street offering $5 Craps and Roulette.

The Mirage Hotel & Casino In Las Vegas, The United States From $8: Deals, Reviews, Photos

My brother, father, and I spend more time at the craps table than we are proud of and thoroughly enjoy the crew, who are involved, funny, and make the game an absolute blast. If you stop to play, throw some bets out and you are sure of the same treatment.

The casino itself has a modern feel and is rarely crowded. Another favorite pastime of ours is pecking away at the bartop video poker at the Furnace Bar. Some of it beats slamming free drinks while chasing the Royal Flush progressive jackpot (which was as high as $2,700 when I was there).

The bottom is that the Downtown Grand casino is a cheap, uncrowded, low-key place to gamble with frequent (and I mean almost TOO frequent) drink service.

All things considered, I enjoyed my stay at the new Gallery Tower at Downtown Grand. While they had to send people around with rags and spray bottles to remove the abundance of scuff marks, I found a Superior Room that was comfortable, modern, and quiet. I will definitely choose the Gallery Tower the next time I stay on Fremont Street (unless I can snag a cheap room at Circa of course).

I’m a former software salesman turned Vegas aficionado. While the craps table is my preferred habitat, I pull myself away to explore new attractions, shows, restaurants, and outdoor activities around Las Vegas with the intention of sharing my experience.

Ultimately, I just want to help folks plan a better trip and save some money in the process. Downtown Grand, formerly Lady Luck, is located just a few blocks away from the Fremont Street Experience and delivers a unique, boutique experience. In 2006, Lady Luck closed its doors for renovations that never took place and the building sat empty until 2013 when the current Downtown Grand opened after renovating more than 600 hotel rooms. Recently, the construction of a new hotel tower that will increase the number of resort rooms to more than 1,000 guest rooms.

We have enjoyed Grand dining options as well as an uncrowded, affordable casino in the past, and staying at a property hotel has been on our Vegas to-do list.

We booked the “Premium King” room which is a step up from the Downtown Grand’s baseline “Deluxe” option. The modest upgrade provided us with an additional 100 square meters and for a mid-week rate of around $40 plus $29.36 in resort fees it seemed like a pretty decent value. What is it though? Let’s dive into the details!

The 10 Best Hotels In Downtown Las Vegas For 2023 (with Prices)

We had stayed at Binion’s new hotel the Apache Hotel the night before and it was a nice contrast to the “old-school” vibe that Binion offers. Downtown Grand rooms have a modern vibe and a fresh feel. Hotel guests receive free parking and access to a fitness center with cardio equipment. Premium rooms at the Downtown Grand are also corner rooms that have more windows and often better views.

Our Premium King rooms have all the basic amenities you would expect in a Las Vegas hotel room such as hair dryer, iron/ironing board, safe, 46′ flat screen TV (vs 40″ in standard DTG room), USB charging port, hanging storage / drawer, high speed internet, 2 bottles of water per day, and C.O. Bigelow bath products. One additional item not typical of Vegas hotel rooms is a white noise machine that can help drown the rumblings away from the Fremont Street Experience. Here are some angles of our accommodation:

The bathroom features a shower/tub combo and dual sinks. Nothing will knock your socks off, but certainly a functional, spacious bathroom that will meet the needs of visitors. Notably, the shower has no door, just a short glass partition that doesn’t do a great job of preventing water from splashing onto the floor.

My favorite aspect of the room is the extra space that an upgrade to a premium room provides. A standard deluxe room in DTG has 350 square meters, while the premium room has 450 square meters. The additional space is large and allows for two chairs and a small table to easily integrate into the room.

Overall, the room has a modern feel with new furniture and a very comfortable bed. An added bonus is the Fremont Street Experience view and DTG’s Citrus Pool Deck.

The main feature of the property, Downtown Grand’s Citrus Pool Deck allows guests to cool off in the elevated pool and enjoy cocktails/food from the poolside bar. If a nice pool area is important to you while staying downtown, the Downtown Grand is a solid choice.

Note that even if not staying at DTG, you can access the pool for a fee ($5 on weekdays and $10 on weekends)
