Flights To Florida From Phoenix Round Trip
Starting in November, the carrier is adding 30 daily trips to PHX during the winter season. This includes a brand new daily route from PHX to Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), which will begin on November 5. Jacksonville will be the airline’s fourth non-stop destination from Phoenix in Florida, joining Miami, Orlando and Tampa.
Breeze Airways Running New Nonstop Routes Out Of Hartford
American will deploy an Airbus A320 on the new route to Jacksonville, which happens to be the first route from Phoenix to this Florida city.
In addition, American will resume regional jet service from PHX to Wichita Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport (ICT) on November 5. This flight, operated by American Eagle subsidiary SkyWest Airlines, will operate on CRJ -700 daily, year- round basis.
All told, the airline will offer more than 12% more daily flights compared to last winter, making it one of the largest winter schedules American has offered from Phoenix in nearly a decade.
That’s good news for Phoenix, which hasn’t seen as much growth as other U.S. airport hubs, such as Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth.
Phoenix Private Jet And Air Charter Flights
American inherited the Phoenix hub from Tempe, Arizona-based US Airways during the merger in 2015, and many analysts think that it is the weakest link in the network (after Philadelphia).
It’s clear that local authorities are excited about the expansion of America, something the airport has probably fueled over the past few years.
“American’s announcement of their biggest winter schedule in nearly a decade is great news, and speaks to their continued confidence in the Phoenix market. American is an important business partner, and we couldn’t be happier with their continued growth and investment in Phoenix,” Chad Makovsky, director of airline services at the Department. of the City of Phoenix, he said in a statement.
These days, Charlotte and Dallas-Fort Worth seem to be getting all the attention from America, as the airline continues to expand in these areas. In fact, earlier this month, the airline shared plans to expand its Charlotte operations to 800 daily departures. (For context, Phoenix will be, on average, traveling 263 days this winter.)

Increasing service from Phoenix in the winter seems reasonable, even if the additional flights are not about connecting the funnel through the Valley of the Sun. That’s because Phoenix is a popular winter destination because of its mild temperatures and sunshine.
These latest additions join newly launched service from Phoenix to Monterrey, Mexico, which began in January.
American also faces competition in Phoenix from Southwest Airlines, which uses the airport as one of its operating bases. Therefore, some of this growth could be designed as a competitive response to the Dallas-based carrier.
The airline is adding three daily flights from Phoenix to Tucson, up from six to nine daily flights during the winter season.

That said, the airline is pulling one daily frequency to four markets this winter – Burbank, California; Detroit; in Seattle; and Tampa.

While it’s hot in the summer, Phoenix residents enjoy temperatures in the mid-70s for many months — perfect weather for biking, golfing, swimming, hiking or enjoying the outdoors at one of Phoenix’s resorts or parks. On average, Phoenix receives little rainfall throughout the year. Check the forecast but it’s safe to leave the rain gear at home.
