It’s not that hard to admit that the final season of Game of Thrones was one of the most disappointing final seasons ever to air. Not only did it neglect many of the elements it had built up over the course of the first seven seasons, it just felt rushed and incomplete. However, in retrospect, we should also be happy that we even got a final season with the current trend of arbitrarily canceling every possible series out there. Now, however, we’ve got our hands on a Blu-ray copy of the suspenseful Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon. With the series delving deeper into the history of House Targaryen and their dragons, we were intrigued.
Game Of Thrones House Of The Dragon Blu Ray
. King Jaehaerys I Targaryen (Michael Carter) lost his two sons and therefore no longer had a direct heir. After the Great Council convened, the question of succession was put to a vote, and Viserys (Paddy Considine) was chosen as the next heir and future ruler of the Seven Kingdoms. Viserys was a peaceful man, but he was also desperately trying to secure his line of succession by fathering a son with his wife, Aema (Cian Brooke). When his wife eventually goes into labor and it’s clear that something is wrong, he must make a choice no one would ever want to make: save his wife or save his unborn child. He chooses the second and for a few hours he is the proud father of a son, who unfortunately dies soon after. His daughter Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) struggles with her father’s decision and she also believes that women are considered second-class citizens who are only necessary to give birth to heirs. Her father finally realizes the importance and abilities of his beloved daughter and decides to name Reanira as his heir. This creates a ripple effect for many years to come as he will have to face constant danger and betrayal and have to prove his worth.

Heavy atmosphere and we saw how each of the main characters evolved in the ten episodes of the first season. We have to say that the swapping of actors for both Rhaenyra and Alicent felt a bit off, as their characters were already adults in the show before the swap. To have such drastic changes in their appearance does not make any sense. Thankfully, their acting made up for this, and this little sadness was promptly pushed to the back of our minds.
Comes with several bonus features. These features consist of commentary, behind-the-scenes footage, general information about the show, and of course, opinions from current cast members. We wanted to explore the bonus content, but we would have preferred it if all the bonus content was on the final disc, as some of the extras have already slightly spoiled some of the things to come.
It may contain a little less cleavage and gore so far, but it nails its storytelling and overall atmosphere head on. We loved watching the characters develop throughout the first season and it feels like we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg. Even if you are not stubborn

Set about 200 years before the story of Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon is about House Targaryen. Taking place during the height of their reign, we get to see an earlier version of Westeros where King Viserys rules, but we see things start to unravel when his inability to father a son starts to get to him.
Since this is a prequel that takes place centuries before the original series, we’re treated to an all-new cast that includes Paddy Considine, Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke. For us, however, the real stars of the show are its dragons, which in terms of special effects are vastly improved compared to their portrayal in Game of Thrones. Maybe part of it is seeing them in 4K with increased detail now (I saw the original series in 1080p), but the dragons aren’t just integral to the story because they supply House Targaryen with great power, they also look amazing.
Of course, House of the Dragon also features all the power struggles, plot twists and bloodshed we associate with the show, so tonally this is exactly what fans will want to see if they haven’t. via HBO Max already. The story spans several years (jumping forward and regularly introducing new characters and actors), but leaves enough of that 200-year gap intact for future seasons.
The 4K Ultra HD version of the series comes on 4 discs, with Dolby Vision and HDR-10 support for all episodes, which are encoded at 2160p resolution in a 2.00:1 aspect ratio. The scenes where the image quality stands out most clearly are of course those involving dragons, but low-light scenes in particular are impressive for how clean and detailed they still look. And while many scenes feature close-ups with lots of facial and clothing detail, the more visually striking sequences for a TV series come from moments of intense action sequences. We watched the series on a Dolby Vision-enabled screen, which results in more vivid images than what I’m used to in Game of Thrones (although I’ve never seen the 4K broadcast of that show).
House Of The Dragon: The Complete First Season (4k Blu Ray Steelbook) [taiwan]
Audio, this is another 4K home release of a TV show that features a Dolby Atmos track that elevates the viewing experience to something almost cinema-like. With frequent use of all available channels, including overhead ones that are particularly impressive in combat scenarios and dragon scenes, House of the Dragon comes to life through its audio – which also includes more subtle effects like rain that surrounds you without ever drowning you out. action that is on the screen. There’s a great balance in the mix between the channels and we definitely recommend watching this with a decent surround system if you have the chance.
In terms of special features, disc-based releases of TV shows tend to be a mixed bag. Very rarely is there a rich selection of things to dive into, and in some cases it’s all very bare bones with very little beyond the episodes themselves. With around an hour of extra content, House of the Dragon has a decent amount of content to dive into, with the feature-length Return to the Seven Kingdoms being a clear highlight. It runs for almost half an hour, while other add-ons are quite short in comparison, most of them running from two to six minutes. HBO Max does a great job of making these extras available to subscribers as well, but for non-subscribers, it’s nice to have them as part of the package here. On the other hand, this also means that if you have HBO Max, there’s little incentive to jump on this set as long as they’re available to stream — unless you want to have these either on the shelf or plan to watch this in a home setup. cinema with streaming connection.
