
Gender Inequality In The Workplace Essay – Gender inequality in the workplace has been an ongoing problem for decades now. Men and women have never been on the same page when it comes to work. Women have always been known to take on more of a caregiver role, while men have been given more demanding tasks. Gender stereotypes have always played a role in assigning women to lower-paying, lower-status jobs compared to men. Discrimination against women can occur in a variety of ways throughout the workplace, including during the recruiting, hiring, and even hiring process. For example, if a vacancy arises for a construction position, men will be chosen as new employees instead of women because construction is more of a masculine occupation. Over the years, women have earned more degrees, master’s degrees, and doctorates than men. However, women in the U.S. workforce still earn less than men without degrees. Despite being more educated than men and making up nearly half of the workforce, women are much less likely to be promoted in the workplace than men. It is a proven fact that women make up less than 5% of CEOs, and men make up the remaining 95% with much less knowledge than women. In this generation, then and now, it is not a problem to make it difficult for women to fulfill ‘manly’ duties. In that sense, discrimination against women continues to this day due to gender identity in the workplace.

We use information from a variety of trusted resources aimed at an adult audience between the ages of 25 and 70. Among them are ABC News, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Washington Post, and the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Deggans begins by talking about the analysis she conducted based on helping women in the workplace. It brings up discrimination by talking about allegations of sexual harassment made by the industry. This, she says, was a question of why women are denied professional opportunities. He says in the article that men have been ‘falsely’ accused of sexual assault or told they did not want to work with certain women.

This article will support what I am saying by presenting a statement agreeing that gender inequality exists in the workplace. Among them, gender inequality is especially blatant in the workplace. For example, on average, women are more likely to work part-time, be employed in low-wage jobs, and not hold management positions (Deggans, para.3). This information would work well in my essay by simply mentioning that women are known to take lower level jobs than men. This article on court cases provides numerous examples of cases that have occurred in Delaware. Separate each piece of information to target people who have had an incident or have had an incident and need help. There is a peer-reviewed journal titled “Supporting Workplace Diversity Policies: The Role of Race, Gender, and Beliefs in Inequality” by William J. Scarborough. Describe workplace diversity policies and how they are more effective when supported by managers and workers. They analyzed data from a survey experiment designed to assess public opinion about various workplace diversity policies. They examined how support for these policies among employed respondents varied by race, gender, and target population. Together, their findings highlight the role of inequality beliefs in shaping workers’ support for diversity policies and suggest directions for future research on how such beliefs develop.
Much of the information contained here could be used in an essay to support the points I am trying to make. The essay states, “Companies are investing more money and more energy than ever before in efforts to increase and support diversity in the workplace” (Scarborough, para.1). By saying this, Scarborough is proving that even if workplace diversity is bad now, it won’t always be that way. The information that supports this exists throughout the peer-reviewed journal in a way that makes the essay ring true.
Carpe Diem wrote ¨There really is no ‘gender wage gap’. The article titled ‘There is a gender income gap, but the gap does not decrease by paying women well’ runs counter to my argument. It talks about the wage gap and wages between women and men in certain occupations. It begins by saying that men and women do slightly different jobs simply because they choose to do them, but they get paid the same for the same jobs. They then go on to say that in reality there is no gender wage gap, but rather that there is a gender income gap, and that the important but overlooked point is that the wage gap has little to do with gender discrimination. That said, there is little evidence that men and women with the same job title, same background, education and qualifications are paid differently. It is completely illegal to say that a man is paid more to do the same work.

The article “Justifying Gender Discrimination in the Workplace” by Catherine Verniers and Jorge Vala would support my essay very well. We talk about the issue of gender inequality in employment and how it has increased in policy and developed countries. Next, we talk about what goals everyone had to eliminate gender discrimination in the hiring process, pay for men and women, promotions, etc. However, gender inequality in the workplace still continues to occur. In Verniers and Valas’ study, they documented the psychosocial processes associated with the persistence of gender discrimination against women in the workplace. With all their research and documentation, they have succeeded in writing an article about why women stand out in the workplace over men.
