Return : 30 days Thursday, 22 June 2023 12:56 Marvel & Disney set Guardians 3 for BD & 4K on 8/1, plus an additional update that you find out 30 days later, 22 June 2023 12:56 Marvel & Disney. by Bill Hunt
First, the big one: Disney and Marvel have officially set James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 3 for release on Blu-ray, DVD, and 4K Ultra HD on 8/1, with digital release expected on 7/7. You can expect Dolby Atmos sound and HDR10 high dynamic range on the 4K SKU. The Blu-ray disc will include 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. But here’s the most interesting thing: For the first time, a Disney / Marvel title has included a variable aspect ratio that changes from 2.35 to 1.85!
[Editor’s note: According to studio representatives, this is not a repeat of the IMAX showing but instead of a wide showing of the film as seen in some regular, non-IMAX theaters. Just an FYI.]
Marvel Studios: Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol.2 3d
Extras on all SKUs include 2 featurettes (The Imperfect, Perfect Family and Creating Rocket Raccoon), a gag reel, 8 deleted scenes (A Bit Much, A Lending Hand, Drax’s Analogies and Metaphors, The Perfect Society, The Search for 89P13, It Worried Peter, A Burning Escape, and Knowhere After the Battle), and audio commentary by James Gunn. You can see the cover artwork on the left and also below. [Read here…]
Also today, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has released the 4K Ultra HD release of Danny Cannon’s I Still Know What You Did Last Summer on 9/26, in honor of the film’s 25th anniversary. The film was scanned from the original camera negative and features Dolby Vision HDR, along with the new Dolby Atmos sound mix. You’ll also get a new audio commentary by Cannon, along with legacy extras that include He Still Knows What You Did: An Interview with Muse Watson, a featurette, Jennifer Love Hewitt’s How Do I Deal music video, and the play house trailer. You can see the cover artwork below.
Kino Lorber Studio Classics has officially set Sylvester Stallone’s Staying Alive (1983) for release on 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray remastering on 8/29, and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Again, the cover art is available below.
Battlestar Galactica (1979) 4K Ultra HD has been delayed to 8/29 (from its original 7/11 date). Adjust your plans accordingly.

And our friends at Turbine Media in Germany have announced a few 4K Ultra HD titles they’re working on for release in the coming months, including Black Phone (2021), Pearl (2022), Infinity Pool ( 2023), and Renfield (2023). ). All should include Dolby Vision HDR and Dolby Atmos audio.
Finally today, several readers have reported that 20th Century Studio’s 3D Blu-ray release of Avatar: The Way of Water is in short supply at retailers and is selling out many locations. I have contacted the studio and confirmed that more copies are being reproduced. So if you’re looking for a copy, you should all be able to get one in the coming weeks. The best way to make sure is to ask your favorite dealer to order.
We’ll leave you with a look at the cover artwork for those three titles mentioned above, with Amazon.com pre-order links if they’re available (if they’re not yet available, we’ll add them to how they live).

RT @ArrowFilmsVideo: Summer is coming so join the Video Shop with Wing Chu, sea tales, a lighthouse, tough yakuza action and… maybe some will get lucky if Random Space Media releases if spread. The shipping cost from Japan is outrageous. I’d rather be sure I’m getting the 3D version, to me that’s worth keeping my MCU 4K + 3D steelbook collection intact.
I can give up 2 or 3 purchases during the year and wait for Black Friday to get a discount instead.
When Is ‘guardians Of The Galaxy 3’ Coming To Blu Ray?
I opted for YesAsia’s Movienex 4K+3D stainless steel version for US$77 shipped for my 3D collection. Add US 4K steel to my steel book collection and I am STILL under this cost.
Random Space Media will not be releasing this or any other Marvel title in 3D. They have stated several times that they do not have the ability to acquire or release Disney/Marvel/Fox titles in 3D.
Ppl get confused because of spiders, they forget it’s a Sony Marvel movie, different from the Disney/marvel ones.
Amazon JP has now reduced the shipping cost of this title. I canceled my pre-order and it was re-ordered with Global Priority Shipping.

Were you able to place another order for the steel book? Or are you talking about the standard 4K + 3D release? I think the steel book has been sold out since a couple of days after the pre-order went live.
I think this is the only difference between this and the best buy spread. So 3D fans, rejoice, because you are all now children of amazon Japan!*
That hasn’t been available for a while now so I just had to order a standard version from yesasia and a steel book from best buy. It would be great if your situation makes it look like the hands are reaching for the bride in Comin’ At Ya!
I feel sarcasm lol But you miss the point. You joke about “3D transcendence” but hasn’t your understanding improved after watching many 3D movies and listening to 3D reviewers like Bunker and GFF? Yes, my software system has evolved steadily over the years. But that just means I can see what was always there.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 3d (includes 2d Version)
Walmart sells the 4K and bluray combo for $29.95. I’m just saying the 3D quality isn’t that good anymore. Sure some will say it’s better than non-3D. Yes I agree but is $40.00 better. Personally I don’t think so. But like I said, I will keep buying them and I will as long as they are released.
You are comparing apples and oranges…
For sure. Not a bad price for the “final edition” of a movie with all versions on board. In any case, it is priceless to be able to reproduce the luxurious feeling of 3D whenever you want, while playing titles like Guardians 3 and Avatar 2 in excellent quality in the our sweet little cinemas (!!!)
Nah. You don’t want to sell it. I want more. More, more, more. I wouldn’t sell a 3D blu-ray that I have anyway. I like to complain. That makes me feel better.
Guardians Of The Galaxy (blu R [blu Ray]: Amazon.co.uk: Various: Dvd & Blu Ray
I miss movies that had good 3D. This stuff they’re making today is a great excuse for good 3D. We all accept it because that’s what we get. It’s a ton better than seeing it flat. Every movie with good 3D or at least better will definitely have one or two small spots
