Things are going well. These guys are good guys, very professional, prompt, and they know what they’re doing. They have the right equipment and experience to do the job, trust me…when you move a safe that weighs as much as a small car, you can’t use a refrigerator dolly and a couple of partners. The price is totally fair for how much hard, skilled labor this requires. I wouldn’t let anyone touch my safe… Seriously, they are really nice.
Pete and his team moved a large and heavy safe for me, weighing 1, 400 pounds. In fact, they’ve moved me twice. They delivered it initially and then moved it when we moved.
I purchased a 700 pound gun safe at Tractor Supply Co. in Hebron, Ohio that is approximately 72 inches high, 40 inches wide, and 24 inches deep. I needed to ship it to my home about 20 miles away. The safe that TSC usually uses refused to be moved because of its size, so I had to find a moving company. I checked a few options through e’s List but found that the most reputable moving companies charged up to $400.00 and required 3 people. Buckeye Outdoors , a large sporting goods store in the area told me they use a company in Tipp City called Pete’s Safe and Vault Moving, LLC. I was worried because Tipp City is north of Dayton and quite far from Newark. However, I called and found the owner, Pete Clark. I explained that the safe would need to be picked up at TSC and taken to my home in the countryside southeast of Newark. The safe requires walking up two steps into the house and then to the back bedroom. What I forgot to mention is that I have a long, steep gravel driveway. I was worried about the distance but was told it was no problem. Pete said he had a few other safes delivered to the area and he would add me to the list. Cost is $175.00. Especially after I got other estimates, I thought, he’s missing something, no, this is the estimate. I’m also worried about the weather because we’re expecting several inches of snow, along with sleet and freezing rain. After the storm passed I had about 36 hours to clear the road and the day before delivery I called to confirm the delivery and Pete asked if it could be rescheduled for the following Sunday. I told him I really couldn’t because I had already paid to have the driveway plowed and salted. He said he would be there the next day. They called me the day of delivery and gave me half an hour’s warning so I could meet them at the store. We met, and only one person. What? Buying a 700 pound safe? Well, the safe was loaded into his box truck, which already had at least 3 safes in it, and he followed me to my house. It took him a few attempts to get it up the driveway, then he started unloading the safe, removing the pallet, carrying it to the sidewalk, down two steps, then up two more, and carried it into the house. . His equipment is amazing. I can’t say it’s effortless, but it certainly seems so. He continued into the bedroom and placed the safe where I wanted it, on the rubber mat I had already placed. He set up the electrical outlets for me, showed me how to reset the combination on the safe, and then made sure nothing was messed up before leaving. There are no scratches on the safe or on my wood floors. Yes, the cost is only $175.00. Pete’s serves Columbus, Dayton and Cincinnati and as far away as Zanesville. I rarely make recommendations, but I would recommend Pete’s to anyone.

The experience was very smooth. Pete called back immediately to let me know he was picking up the safe from the trucking company dock and when I could expect him. Before ordering the safe, I called Pete to see if the safe I wanted would fit in the basement. Unfortunately, my stairs to the basement don’t allow me to put the safe there. Pete did say that based on his 20 years of experience delivering safes, the safe I was looking at would not have any problems on the first floor.
I ordered a safe and had it shipped to a local trucking company. Pete picked up the safe from the trucking company, delivered it and placed the safe where I wanted it on the first floor. He is very professional and efficient. The whole process took about 30 minutes after he got to my house.
