Walmart vibes. Wonderful room. Everything else is a monster. The hotel is located in a huge construction zone. Half of the roads are closed. Traffic jam to the parking garage. This is madness. The lobby does not exist. Nothing but fenced off “sorry our dust” sections. Check in is slow. A short line that takes forever to progress. The parking garage is terrible. Electric car charging was advertised, Valet knew nothing about it (but told me people keep asking for it). The receptionist insisted it existed, but only with a valet for $30 a day. No electric charging for auto stop. So even if your room rate includes parking, you still have to pay $30 a day if you want to charge your car. That’s just insulting. No spa, no sauna. It’s a large hotel block with few nice rooms, a terrible garage and a non-existent lobby. I would never pay full price to stay here. The moment you step out of your room, you face unpleasantness. And they kick you out at 10am, no option for late checkout… Checkout didn’t ask if I enjoyed my stay. So… I guess you don’t want to improve? Likes (9) No comments yet
Anyone Have Experience With Hilton Grand Vacations?
The rooms were nice and the location was ok but it was still a bit of a walk to the strip and there was nothing to do at the hotel. This was about 3 years ago when I stayed here and only my second trip to Vegas so I had to do a little more research. Likes (42) No Comments Elara I have stayed at the hotel before and liked it a lot. It’s close to the strip, not right on Las Vegas Blvd. The Elara Hilton is a Grand Vacations Resort, which basically means it’s a timeshare property. They also operate like a standard hotel, but it’s clear that the target is timeshares and not the hotel part of the business.
I chose this hotel mostly for its location, but there are a few other reasons to stay here. First of all, The Hilton Elara is a non-gaming hotel. This means the hotel does not have a casino. The Hilton Elara is attached to, but not part of, Planet Hollywood Casino. That’s a good thing in my opinion, Las Vegas casinos can be a labyrinth to navigate and getting to your hotel room can sometimes be a pain when you have to walk through a maze of slot machines and gaming tables. If you’re not much of a gambler, like me, staying at a hotel with a casino isn’t worth much.
Another reason to stay here is that the Hilton Elara is very close to the Las Vegas Monorail. But only if you go through the back door of the hotel and the Bally/Paris station. If you walk around the strip to the official entrance, it takes a good half hour.
I only stayed here for 3 nights, although I will be in Vegas for 5. This hotel is very expensive and in the interest of saving some money for my company, I moved to the Conrad at Resorts World Las Vegas. Vegas for the final 2 nights of my trip. I will have a full report on that hotel later.

The Hilton Elara is one block from The Strip (Las Vegas Blvd) on E Harmon Ave. It is a great location on the South Strip. It is very close to the area’s major casinos and resorts. Caesar’s Palace and the Bellagio are across the strip. MGM is to the south and Planet Hollywood and Paris to the north.
Let me warn you though, Las Vegas is not a particularly walkable city. The hotels and resorts here are huge, taking up entire city blocks, so a hotel “a few hotels down” can easily be a mile walk. A system of overpasses and tunnels encircling the Strip is like rungs and ladders, you never know where you’ll end up.
Taking a cab around town is honestly quite easy and a great experience. I took a taxi from the airport to the hotel. Drivers are mostly nice and professional, although you should always focus on the long term. Luckily airport runs are flat rate so you know exactly what you’ll be paying before you even get in the car.
How To Travel To Las Vegas On Points And Miles
Walking past the drop off area and small parking lot is the lower level entrance hall. Outside there is a door man, a bell stand and a taxi stand. In Las Vegas cabs can only pick up from designated areas, you cannot hail one from the street.
Once upstairs there is a front desk on the left. The lobby is huge and looks great. A very modern place with lots of high end materials. I was unable to check in on the Hilton app and had to visit the front desk. On the right are several desks for timeshare sales.
While at the property, not once did anyone pressure me to refer a timeshare sale. However the day before I checked in I was called by the hotel “about an exciting offer”. It appeared to be verifying my reservation but immediately turned into a sales pitch. I refused.
The elevators are in the area where you need to scan your room key. This is very common in Vegas as lobbies are public areas and fairly well trafficked. I noticed something strange in the elevator, there are no floors 40-49.

Guest floor hallways are ordinary and boring. Nothing special here really. Unfortunately, I was put next to the elevator, even though I requested it in my “timeshare” phone call from the day before.
Walking, the rooms are very nice. Clean and well maintained. There is a sitting area with sofa and coffee table.
Desk and TV area. I used a desk and chair on this visit, I’m not kidding when I say it was a work trip.
I got the king bed I requested so that was nice. There were outlets on both sides of the bed. For whatever reason, I couldn’t sleep well in this bed. Not sure why, but I just wasn’t comfortable.

Hilton Elara Las Vegas rooms have kitchenettes. It includes a microwave, mini fridge, toaster, coffee maker and dishwasher. Luckily there is also a roll of paper towels, always appreciated and think most hotel rooms should have them. While you can’t cook a full meal here, it can easily make enough breakfast or re-heat leftovers.
