Play with perspective and depth of field. Perspective is the best way to illustrate action and the effects of one’s action. Does your character beat the life out of them? Try to explain it by dragging them away and bumping into a wall, or if it’s a sneak attack, use height and hierarchy to illustrate that someone is coming at them from a not-so-obvious angle.

Lines are your best friend. Using impact lines helps the viewer visualize and contextualize the strokes happening on the page before them. Likewise, speed lines help give a sense of movement and create a frenetic and dynamic sense of how your fight scene is unfolding. Line effects are incredibly important when you want to add dynamism and suggest speed, but if lines clutter your drawing, sophisticated effects like motion blur or subtle changes in tone can be used.

Plot your numbers. Use me to perfect your scene and how you want your characters to interact with each other. Remember the background, or upload your own right to the app! Download your scene and upload it to your favorite sketching app.
