While it may seem premature to anoint San Vicente’s new position as a surefire winner, there is no other way to put it. The duo’s 2015 Fairfax original has packed audiences with a celebrity crowd since day one, and the Brentwood location is the perfect place for high-end customers to dine on pizza, mozzarella sticks and meatballs. Reservation calls and walk-ins have already begun.

Jon & Vinny’s has long been heralded as a staple of red sauce, the type of pce that East Coasters embody just doesn’t exist in Los Angeles. Similar to the original location, this new location carries everything from breakfast soft-poached eggs and bacon to avocado toast, as well as lunchtime sads and ricotta ptes. Dinnertime is all about pizzas, homemade pastas, and a quick wine list from Helen Johannesen, who has her own store Helen’s Wines in this new Brentwood property.
As for the space, expect the same Jeff Guga-designed white oak music as before. The room is slightly remodeled, with a kitchen to the rear, a wine store to the front, and lots of light throughout. There are more seats in total (about 85 in total), but most of the details are still the same. That’s on purpose, as – perhaps more than any other Jon & Vinny project – the Italian title scene is built to be endlessly replayable. Jemma di Mare, one of the most anticipated restaurants of the year, opens today at 11677 San Vicente Boulevard, serving homemade pastas, cocktails and a wide variety of delicious seafood dishes. There are baked cm and traditional dishes like linguine alle vongole, but the star of the show may be the tagliolini served with a whole lobster for two people to split. It’s a showpiece dish that should arrive quickly and often on many tables, alongside dishes like squid ink lobster scampi, sole piccata, and bone-in steak – and that’s to say nothing of the extra sour garlic bread. start. with a splash of red wine. As for the new Jemma di Mare space, the old Bottlefish space has been renovated with navy blue colors, exposed lighting, and lots of exposed wood. There are tall, dark booths to float in, and walls of windows to let in the light of the traffic outside during dinner. A rge patio allows for alfresco dining under heaters, while the indoor bar can be a secret pce to have on a weekday evening. It’s all meant to come together through lunch and dinner service to create something that feels exotic yet approachable, East Coast seafood and Italian specialty with a West Coast look and pedigree. Jackson and Melissa Kalb’s new Jemma di Mare is just one part of the pair’s busy empire. Not only do they already run Jame’s in El Segundo – with its new bar attached – but the couple also run the popular Ospi in Venice and have plans to make a big splash in the heart of Hollywood this summer as well. Meanwhile, Brentwood is staying busy as well, with upcoming opportunities from Terroni’s team in Los Angeles as well. It all makes for a fun time dining in what was for decades the city’s sleepiest neighborhoods and, now, is among the best.

Well that took a while… I first told you that popular Santa Monica Italian staple Rosti Tuscan Kitchen was opening another location in Brentwood almost two years ago. Since then, people have been demanding answers. While I’m not sure what caused the delay, I can tell you that they have recently opened for business at 11740 San Vicente Blvd. Suite 104, in what used to be La Scala’s beloved Industrial complex. I’m told the menu is the same as the Montana Ave location.

But it often sits empty. That is about to change. There is an ABC program forwarded announcing that this space will soon be a branch of Italian powerhouse Rosti Tuscan Kitchen of Santa Monica. (They also have a branch in Calabases too.) Brentwood sure loves its Italian restaurants…

The restaurant on San Vicente Boulevard opened in mid-January, offering a different Italian menu than Jon & Vinny’s previous location in Fairfax, which opened in 2015 to great acclaim. The crowded but charming restaurant offers a menu full of pizza, pasta, meat and wine, but at a very high price.

Jon & Vinny’s maintains an exterior, decorated with wood paneling and a green neon sign. The restaurant has a white oak aesthetic on the walls, tables and chairs, creating a dimly lit night scene, except for the kitchen and counter seating. Customers have a full view of chefs rolling pizza dough, frying garlic bread over a wood fire and expertly tasting various dishes. Those sitting at the counter seat can feel the heat coming from the pizza oven and from the hot plates coming from them.
With full seating and an open kitchen, this place is usually loud. Jon & Vinny’s is packed at dinner time – customers without a reservation must give their name and number to the waiter to try their luck. Those who manage to grab a seat, however, will be greeted by friendly and efficient staff.
The chefs, wearing aprons over their Jon & Vinny T-shirts, enthusiastically dished out orders with the rhythms of casual conversation sprinkled in, as if trying to give customers an exciting look into a classic kitchen. Their enthusiasm, along with the ambient purple lighting, encouraged a social, yet elegant atmosphere. The service continued with the same cheerfulness,
