After officials limited the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to 15 percent capacity (12,500 fans) for NASCAR weekend earlier this month, local and state officials gave the speedway the green light to have 50 percent capacity for the Denso Spark 16-18. As a result, the Speedway reported Wednesday that it has sold out all grandstand tickets for the NHRA Four-wide Nationals in mid-April.

The Aviators, owned by Summerlin master developer Howard Hughes Corporation, are the Triple-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. They are scheduled to open their season on May 6 against the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, at the Las Vegas Ballpark.
It looks like the Speedway will become the first Las Vegas sports arena to have 50 percent fan capacity under Gov. Steve Sisolak’s latest directive. The Vegas Golden Knights are currently at 22 percent capacity, or 3,950 fans, at the 17,367-seat T-Mobile Arena.
The speedway has completed the sale of all grandstand seats and noted that there will be no sellouts on the day of the event. But the speedway has a limited number of suite offers left this weekend.

The Strip will host a total of 68 events this coming year, including the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Four-Wide Nationals 5-7. April and NHRA Nevada Nationals Oct. 31-Nov. 3. Additionally, the iconic drag strip will host 12 Bracket Series events, 11 Jr. Dragsters races, a dozen O’Reilly Auto Parts Midnight Mayhems and eight Open Test-n-Tune sessions.
The Strip will also be the backdrop for the NHRA Division 7 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events 12-14. April and 7-10 November, NHRA Division 7 ET Finals 3-6 October and NHRA Division 7 Jr. the results Sept. 20 -22. If that’s not enough, the Spring Fling Million runs April 15-20. April, the Street Car Super Nationals will return November 19-24, Import Face Off events are set for March 17 and December 15, and the West Coast Hot Rod Association will bring The Battle to The Strip on June 1.
One big format change for the upcoming season includes the O’Reilly Auto Parts Midnight Mayhem program, which will move seven of its 12 sessions from Fridays through Wednesdays in 2019. Mayhem is also returning to its roots, allowing only street-legal vehicles with run-flat tires. in dozens of meetings. Performance vehicles equipped with racing licks can run in the eight Friday Open Test-n-Tune sessions that have been added to the calendar.

The “Showcase/Grudge Top 10” category has been taken out of the Mayhem events, but these vehicles may run during Friday’s tests. The changes are designed to give local racers and car enthusiasts more access to The Strip than ever before, with streamlined track layout and preparation allowing drivers to get more passes down the track each night.
The Strip has been named the NHRA Division 7 LODRS Track of the Year for six consecutive years and seven times overall, and was honored as the division’s top track this year after expanding from two to four tracks. The full schedule, which was released Tuesday, will also include 10 NASCAR Weekly Racing Series events as well as the season-ending Open.
The season will see its first green flag on Saturday, February 5 with the first NASCAR Weekly Racing Series event. The program also includes the popular Eldnótt on Sunday, July 3, which ends with one of the best fireworks displays in the valley.
