Shows In Las Vegas September 2021 – It was hot in Vegas this past weekend! For us Latinos, it was muy en fuego. No, it wasn’t because of the weather, it was because two of the hottest Latinos in the world were together on one stage. The duo used Vegas as the launch city for one of the most anticipated tours of the coming year. Initially, it was supposed to hit the road last year. But like most things in the world, it was postponed due to Covid. Ricky got the Las Vegas crowd on an incredibly fun tone with his first track, “Livin’ La Vida Loca.” Other hits include “Maria”, “Venta Pa’ Ca” and his latest “Que Rico Fuera”. Let’s be real, Martin knows how to deal with a Vegas crowd. A skill he undoubtedly perfected during his “All In” residency in Las Vegas.

The big child took a moment to address the little children, the last numerous, the first all with heaving chests and a childish exuberance as excessive as his swollen biceps.

Four songs in, Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds asked all the kids in the house if this was their first gig.

On cue, thousands of little hands and voices rose in unison in a packed Allegiant Stadium Saturday night.

“There’s still a lot of life to come,” Reynolds noted, crouching on the podium to make eye contact with young spectators. “No one knows your way except you. If you ever feel alone, you are not alone.

And with that, the band launched into “Thunder,” an utterly resonant anthem about being a not-so-cool kid walking the halls of Bonanza High School, Reynolds’ alma mater.

“The kids were laughing in my classes/While I was plotting for the masses,” Reynolds sang. “Who do you think you are? / I dream of being a big star.

Those aspirations were realized, of course, and Reynolds became cool even if he’s not that cool — the same goes for his band.

The Imagine Dragons are frequently criticized by critics and cool cats – although the two are certainly not the same – because of Reynolds’ seriousness, both in song and on stage, because he is preternaturally open, full of hope and irony. -allergic will inevitably make you considered out of date.

“I’m nerdy,” he said at one point after dropping an impromptu rhyme on the group’s path to success in Vegas. (“We bet on black and never looked back.”) “Own it. »

And that’s what Reynolds does: pep talks between songs are important to him; he aims to inspire and console and does so with a sincerity that at times brought members of the crowd and himself to tears.

(“Las Vegas, do you ever feel alone? Tonight it’s your turn to let go – to let it all go;” “I’ve lost too many people who think their lives have doesn’t matter. Your life still matters.”)

That’s one of the reasons parents feel so comfortable bringing their kids — some of them still in diapers — to the band’s shows: It’s like a big pop-rock hug.

The two-hour performance began and ended with the same song: “My Life,” played in its entirety, then repeated at the end of the closing show “Walking the Wire.”

“I’m trying to be someone else/I’m having a hard time loving myself,” Reynolds sang over muted keys. “I wanted to be someone new / But it’s impossible to do.”

The song is included on the band’s recently released double album “Mercury Acts 1 & 2,” which they exploited extensively on Saturday, from the pyro-enchanted “Enemy” to a concussive “Bones” to a breezy “One Day” , performed during a four-song acoustic set in the middle of the show, where the band dedicated a cover of Alphaville’s “Forever Young” to the people of Ukraine.

If you forget that three-quarters of this band attended Boston’s prestigious Berklee School of Music, they remind you live: Imagine Dragons keeps things simple and to the point on their records, but often digs their songs a little deeper in live, bassist Ben McKee and drummer Daniel Platzman compete to see who could create the biggest growl at the end of “Lonely,” the band working “I’m So Sorry” into a seismic jam, and guitarist Wayne Sermon ripping through the full tracks throughout, hard soloing as he rode a riser to the rafters during “Radioactive.”

Speaking of that hit single, it was almost 10 years to the day since the album it was featured on, the band’s multi-platinum debut “Night Visions”, was released on September 4, 2012.

With his mom and dad in the audience, Reynolds reflected on the beginnings of the Imagine Dragons and dollar beers.

“My family is here tonight,” he noted, “so many people came to our shows when we played O’ Sheas, the cheapest beer on the Strip. We owe a lot to that city.

“There are no words for a night like this,” Reynolds beamed at one point. “This feels like the most important night of our career.”

In another typically Vegas moment, the group was joined on stage by a phalanx of Cirque Du Soleil performers, including aerialists, during “Sharks.”
