The Effect On Global Warming
Global change is not a future problem. Changes to Earth driven by increased human emissions of heat-trapping greenhouse gases are already having widespread effects on the environment: glaciers and ice sheets are shrinking, river and lake ice is breaking up earlier, geographic areas of plants and animals change, and plants and trees bloom earlier.
The Drastic Effects Of Global Warming
Effects that scientists have long predicted would result from global change are now occurring, such as loss of sea ice, accelerated sea level rise, and longer and more intense heat waves.

Some changes (such as droughts, fires, and extreme rainfall) are occurring faster than scientists previously estimated. In fact, according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Change (IPCC) – the United Nations body set up to assess the science of change – modern humans have never before seen the changes seen globally, and some of these changes are irreversible within the next hundred to thousands of years.
Scientists are very confident that global temperatures will continue to rise for many decades, mainly due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities.
Climate Change Vs. Global Warming: What’s The Difference?
So the Earth’s average temperature rose by about 2 degrees Fahrenheit during the 20th century. What’s the big deal?
The IPCC’s Sixth Assessment Report, published in 2021, found that human emissions of heat-trapping gases have already warmed by nearly 2 degrees Fahrenheit (1.1 degrees Celsius) since 1850-1900.
The global average temperature is expected to reach or exceed 1.5 degrees C (about 3 degrees F) in the next few decades. These changes will affect all regions of the Earth.
“Global warming” refers to the long-term warming of the planet. “change” includes global warming, but refers to a wider range of changes taking place on our planet, including sea level rise; the decline of mountain glaciers; accelerating melting of ice in Greenland, Antarctica and the Arctic; and changes in flower/plant blooming periods.

The severity of the effects caused by the change will depend on the path of future human activities. More greenhouse gas emissions will lead to more extremes and widespread harmful effects on our planet. However, these future effects depend on the total amount of carbon dioxide we emit. Climate Change Impacts

The Health Effects Of Global Warming: Developing Countries Are The Most Vulnerable
In a new study published in the journal Science, Professor Daniel Rosenfeld of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem argues that the degree to which aerosol particles cool the earth has been grossly underestimated.
Aerosols are tiny particles of many different materials that end up in the air, such as dust and vehicle exhaust. They cool our environment by enhancing the cloud layer that reflects the sun’s heat back into space.
Rosenfeld says his findings call for a recalculation of climate change models to more accurately predict the pace of global warming.
He and his colleague Yannian Zhu of the Institute of Meteorology in China’s Shaanxi Province developed a new method that uses satellite imagery to calculate the effect of vertical wind as well as the number of aerosol cloud droplets. Until now, it has been impossible to separate the effects of rising winds, which create clouds, from the effects of aerosols, which determine cloud composition.
The Effects Of Global Warming On Animals
Using this new methodology, Rosenfeld and his colleagues were able to more precisely calculate the cooling effects of aerosols on Earth. They found that this effect is almost twice as large as previously thought.
But this finding doesn’t necessarily mean we can stop worrying about global warming. Rosenfeld has several theories about why temperatures are rising despite the aerosol effect.
“If aerosols are indeed causing a larger cooling effect than previously estimated, then the warming effect of greenhouse gases has also been larger than we thought, allowing greenhouse gas emissions to exceed the cooling effect of aerosols,” Rosenfeld said.
Another hypothesis to explain why the Earth is warming, even though aerosols have cooled it at an even greater rate, is a possible warming effect of aerosols when they fall into “deep clouds” located 10 kilometers or more far above the Earth.
Positives And Negatives Of Global Warming
The Israel Space Agency and France’s National Center for Space Studies have teamed up to develop new satellites that will be able to investigate this deep cloud phenomenon, with Rosenfeld as the principal investigator.
Either way, the bottom line is the same: Current global climate forecasts do not properly account for the significant effects of cloud aerosols on Earth’s global energy balance, Rosenfeld says.
Scientists currently predict a temperature rise of 1.5 to 4.5 degrees Celsius by the end of the 21st century. Rosenfeld’s findings may help provide a more accurate diagnosis and forecast of Earth’s climate.
Funding for the study was provided by the Israel Joint Science Foundation and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Although we are aware of the various effects of global warming on the Earth, we seem determined to underestimate them. These include melting glaciers, climate change, mass extinctions and so on.
