Saw an early copy when I picked up some discs as my favorite indie retailer let me see what he was shipping in. Not interested in this one myself so don’t have the drive to confirm for sure but remembered people talking about it being DD 5.1 so thought I’d post a pic of the back of the case take. It looks like Paramount has updated the specs from the early back cover art. Also looks like a printed disc, not of the MOD signs like a logoless bluray case or something.
Just finished watching this. It seems to be the DVD master for me. That said, 1080P vs 480P is no contest when viewing from 7 feet on an OLED. Blu ray smoked it. No noticeable DNR or artificial enhancement either.

I have been watching this one come out on blu-ray for a long time and I am not disappointed with this transfer. With this good cinematography it deserved to be on blu! So many more details easily visible looks great to me, and I parted with my beloved dvd version of many years. Thank you Robert Redford for such a beautiful film!
We can only imagine how good it will look in 4k – the blue gives us an idea of how good the film looks.

The price for this has dropped below $10. Don’t tell you who knows. Maybe the price will bounce back to $12 again. And seriously, what is with people declaring that they won’t buy this or that release until it reaches a certain price. Do they think it’s a good look? News flash. No one cares whether you buy a given release or not much less what you are willing to pay for it.

I also know that you can’t wait too long these days because I believe that catalog titles will go out of print faster than repressed and that the only way they can be re-released is by licensing them to a boutique company
There was no rush for Bagger Vance, but I wanted it and at $9.99 it hit the sweet spot.
Looks like it has beautiful cinematography so on the one hand it’s fantastic that it got a blu-ray but on the other hand it looks like a pretty old master this kind of cinematography and scenery I think really earn at a min a 4k scan for blu-ray and really a UHD

Yes, the master looks pretty dated. Many shots with EE then the next shot is good. Glad it has lossless audio, but there is a distinct slur to the score. THE LEGEND OF BAGGER VANCE, based on the book of the same title by Steve Pressfield, uses golf as the basis for this spiritual tale of friendship, self-discovery and faith. His incredible skill at the game of golf makes young Rannulph Junuh (Matt Damon) the pride of Savannah, Georgia in 1916. When Junuh enlists and is sent overseas to fight in World War I, the reality of war proves too much for him. much. Rather than return to Savannah a broken man, he simply disappears, much to the dismay of his girlfriend, feisty socialite Adele Invergordon (Charlize Theron). When Junuh finally returns to Savannah in 1931, he is forced to represent his hometown in a golf tournament against legends Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen. But Junuh has lost his swing, and only begins to find it again with the help of Bagger Vance (Will Smith), a mysterious swinger who appears out of the night and offers his services as a caddy. Ultimately, Vance is a spiritual force who teaches Junuh not only about the game, but also about life in this beautifully filmed work directed by Robert Redford (ORDINARY PEOPLE, THE HORSE WHISPERER).
