
The Palazzo Venetian Hotel Las Vegas – Las Vegas Sands Corp. is closing the Venice, Palazzo and Sands Exhibition and Convention Center until at least April 1. The company said no layoffs or layoffs are planned.
The closing process for The Venetian and Palazzo will be completed shortly, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. The governors will decide whether to extend the closure or open the megaresorts “later.”

Sand Group members will continue to be paid while the resorts are closed, and the closure “will not affect health care eligibility,” according to a company statement.

The company will help guests find new homes in Las Vegas, and customers will receive automatic payments for reservations during temporary closures.
On Sunday, the company planned to keep the Venetian and the Palazzo open. The Sands now joins MGM Resorts International, Wynn Resorts and the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in closing their Strip properties to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
“Our most important responsibility is our commitment to the health and safety of our team members and guests,” said Rob Goldstein, Sands President and COO. “Right now, the best way to make that commitment is to ask people not to work.”
Goldstein said the company hopes the shutdown will be short-term, but executives say it “could be a protracted event.”

Sands also shared that it is donating $250,000 to “several key local organizations” to serve the Las Vegas community during the pandemic, including Three Square, Communities in Schools and the Village of Las Vegas. It also plans to donate food and essential equipment.
Caesars Entertainment Corp., Red Rock Resorts and Boyd Gaming Corp. told the Review-Journal on Sunday that it has no plans to close its Nevada properties.

The Palazzo At The Venetian Resort — Hotel Review
The Palazzo was developed by Las Vegas Sands as a sister property to the Vetian Resort, which opened in 1999. Construction on the Palazzo began in September 2004 and the resort opened in phases on December 30, 2007. The $1.9 billion property includes an Italian bar theme and 105,000 square feet (9,800 m).

By 2020, Las Vegas Sands wanted to focus on operations in Macau. The company was in early talks to sell the Vetian, the Palazzo and the adjacent Sands Expo.
Adelson died in January 2021, and Las Vegas Sands announced two months later that it would sell the three Las Vegas properties for $6.25 billion. In the deal, Vici Properties bought the land under the facilities for $4 billion, while Apollo Global Management bought the land under a triple net lease agreement with Vici for $2.25 billion.
According to HKS, “the owners really didn’t want a themed property like the Wetian. To create a high-end building with Rodeo Drive, Bel-Air and Beverly Hills as inspiration.”
The Palazzo was designed as a green building, incorporating energy and water conservation techniques. In 2008, the resort received Silver LEED certification from the US Green Building Council, becoming the largest LEED-certified building in the world.

The Palazzo also includes the Waterfall Atrium, which features seasonal decorations overseen by the gardeners, horticulture and landscape team.
