The costs have not yet been defined, but Secretary Honald Morales explained that it could be around 500 Mexican pesos, or about $28.
“You don’t need to sign anything, it’s a transport like a cruise ship, and nothing is needed, just your travel documents. And in the future, the ferry will also carry cars,” he said.
Tourism Secretary Miguel Aguinaga said, “This ferry comes to give visitors or people who want to do business between Ensenada and San Diego another option to be more active, we know of other destinations that have done well with this concept. It has been successful and we hope it will be the same.”
The boat to be used for the trip was purchased in Vancouver, Canada and is still in that country but is expected to arrive in Baja California soon.

Absolutely! As a woman traveling alone, I feel safe in Ensenada. I didn’t even see any American or Canadian travelers in the area, which gave me the sense that despite its popularity, it’s still a popular travel destination for Mexicans.

There were always police everywhere (as in every street) and seeing this in Mexico, I feel like a heavy police presence means something (bad) is going on. But this is not the case in Ensenada.
Cars are pedestrian-friendly, making it the best destination for families traveling with kids. You will also see a lot of kids (foreign and Mexican) towards the end!

According to recent statistics, the crime rate in Ensenada has been decreasing over the past few years. In 2020, there were only 1.6 murders per 100,000 people – a significant decrease from previous years.

However, that doesn’t mean you can let your guard down. Petty theft and pickpocketing are common in the downtown district and tourist areas such as Papa’s & Beer nightclub.
Simply put, as in all destinations around the world, be careful with your belongings, but don’t be paranoid when traveling in Ensenada Mexico! Relax and enjoy your journey because you attract the energy you give to the world!
Although this city is less known than its more famous Mexican counterparts, it is definitely one of the less-touristy places to visit in Mexico.
One of Ensenada’s biggest draws is the delicious food scene. As you wander the bustling streets, you’ll find countless street vendors selling local favorites – fresh fish tacos and ceviche.

In addition to seafood, Ensenada is also known for its famous wineries, where visitors can sample some of Mexico’s best wines and enjoy breathtaking views of the vineyards.
For adventure-seekers, Ensenada also has a lot to offer. From surfing and kayaking to deep sea fishing and whale-watching tours, there’s no shortage of activities for travelers here.
My first reason for traveling to Ensenada was geographical confusion. I had already been on a wine trip to Valle de Guadalupe (and six other wine countries in Baja California), so I wanted to understand why so many articles on the internet referred to “Ensenada Wine Country”.
I wanted to know if there are any vineyards and wineries within the city of Ensenada, but there are none in the city.

The surrounding/adjacent wine country (ie, Valle de Guadalupe, Los Grullas, Ojo Libre, and Santo Tomas) is considered to be in Ensenada, even though it is 2-4 hours away from the city.
I am also on a 3 week Baja California road trip and Ensenada is on my itinerary. The more I stayed in Ensenada, the more I fell in love with its culture. It was unique and I felt like I was in Los Angeles or San Diego!

Ensenada does not have the notoriously unsafe label compared to Tijuana (TJ). In TJ, I always have to ask everyone if it’s safe to walk down that particular street, but in Ensenada, I never have to.
