Nearly a year after it closed due to the pandemic, Universal Studios Hollywood plans to reopen over the weekend and allow fans to buy food, shop and wander the 415-acre park that celebrates filmmaking.

Makes No Sense’: Universal Studios Hollywood Blasts Ca Closures

Beginning March 12, Universal Studios Hollywood will open most areas of the park on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for a food and shopping event beginning March 18 at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim, a recently announced event.

Knott’s Berry Farm in Buena Park is launching a similar event. Celebrating foods infused with Boysenberry, Knott’s Festival kicks off March 5.

The Universal Studios event is called Taste of Universal, and tickets start at $44 for adults, which includes a five-course meal. General parking is free, preferred parking costs $10. The Disney event, dubbed A Touch of Disney, costs $75 for adults, including parking and a $25 dining card. Tickets for the Knott’s Taste of Boysenberry Festival cost $45, which includes parking and five food tastings.

At Universal Studios, park-goers can choose from 70 food options, including 30 new dishes created for the event. Outdoor seating will be available. Costumed characters will be on hand for physically distant photo opportunities, the park said in a statement.

California’s epidemic prevention measures prohibit park runs. Universal Studios allows guests to shop and dine in popular park areas such as “The Simpsons”-themed Springfield, U.S.A. and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Shops and restaurants will also be open in the area surrounding The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash ride. The attraction was supposed to open last year, but the pandemic forced the park to close before visitors could try it.

Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., which owns Knott’s Berry Farm, reported last month that net income for 2020 was $182 million, down from $1.47 billion for 2019. A decline in theme park attendance of 25.3 million drove the company down. .
