*Spoiler alert: While we won’t be going into blatant detail about the MCU movies, there will be some spoilers if you’re not all caught up.
All 3 Captain America Movies In Order: Including Avengers Movies
Superhero movies have always been popular. Ever since Christopher Reeve’s first outing as Superman in 1978, there has always been some sort of comic book adaptation in the works. For decades, the biggest superheroes on our big screens were Batman and Superman. But everything changed in 2008 when Robert Downey Jr donned his armor for the first time. Since then, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (affectionately referred to as the MCU) has become the biggest movie franchise of all time. Spanning 32 films (at the time of writing) and spanning a decade of hype and action, Marvel films have grossed nearly $28 billion dollars worldwide.
Because of the interconnected nature of the MCU, watching and re-watching all the movies is part of the fun. And the launch of Disney Plus means that all MCU movies (including at least one of the three Tom Holland Spider-Man movies) will be available to stream on the same platform. But the big question is, in what order do you watch them?
Do you prefer to watch all the movies as they were originally released, starting with Iron Man and ending with Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 3? Do you want to watch the events as they happened and prefer the Marvel sequence? Do you watch all the Marvel movies or just watch the best and get to Endgame as soon as possible?
You don’t have to decide now. Check out our guide on how to watch Marvel movies to see which one you like best.
Here’s How You Should Watch The Marvel Movies In Chronological Order
There’s a fair amount of time-hopping in the MCU, with some movies set in the past, some in the future, and some jumping between the two. In fact, it’s pretty much the basis for the entire plot of Endgame. After watching all the movies at least once, some fans prefer to watch the Marvel movies in chronological order, starting with Captain America: The First Avenger and ending with the latest MCU release, which is currently Thor : Love and Thunder.
Watching the MCU movies in chronological order is a fun way to see all the callbacks, Easter eggs and foreshadowing you might have missed the first time you saw the movies. For example, Nick Fury calling out to Captain Marvel after the events of Infinity War added impact once you’ve watched them meet in the Captain Marvel solo film.
It’s not 100% accurate thanks to Marvel’s famous mid- and post-credits causing some overlap, particularly with Captain Marvel, Black Widow and Ant-Man and The Wasp. Not to mention the flashbacks to the Eternals that took place thousands of years ago. But for the most part, here’s how to watch all the MCU movies in Marvel’s order:

If you want to go a step further, you can include Disney Plus Marvel TV shows in your next rewatch. While WandaVision was first released, Loki begins with the events of Endgame, which itself takes place in 2012. So here’s how to watch the MCU movies and TV shows in chronological order:
How To Watch The Terminator Movies In Chronological Order
Like me, you prefer to watch the Marvel movies in the order in which they were intended – that is, the order in which they were originally released. Here’s how to watch the Marvel movies in order of release date:
Marvel hasn’t revealed too much about Phase 6 of the MCU. However, they have announced the titles and release dates of the three main films within the next slate of productions:
If you’re new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and want to catch up on the movies without having to watch all 32, here’s a short list of the MCU movies you need to watch to make it all make sense.
There will be characters that appear that you’re not immediately familiar with (Captain Marvel and Dr. Strange) and the odd reference that you’ll miss, but all in all, you’ll get the gist of what’s going on in the MCU and watch the best, funniest and most influential moments throughout.
Binge Watch Every Marvel Movie In Order (free Marvel Printable)
Some hardcore Marvel fans want to watch the 29 MCU movies in order of their rating on review platforms like IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. While this means you’re watching movies out of order, it can be a great way to save the best for last, as always. If you started your MCU binge with The Incredible Hulk – a movie that many of us don’t really consider part of the MCU – and are pining for the last two episodes of Avengers.
This, however, is a very subjective list. I personally would never put Dr Strange above Black Panther. So you might want to tweak this particular list to suit your own opinion.
The events that take place in the MCU universe span thousands of years, and the time spent to watch all the movies in this universe is also quite long. With 32 movies released over 17 years, each installment of the MCU seems to usher in longer and longer movie runtimes, with the epic Avengers finale clocking in at just over three hours.
So how long will it take you to watch all the MCU movies? Here are all the MCU movies in order of shortest to longest:
Marvel Cinematic Universe Timeline In Chronological Order
This means that, so far, the MCU’s total runtime is 68 hours and 36 minutes. So if you want to watch the entire Marvel timeline, non-stop, back-to-back, it will take you over two and a half days.
Call me old fashioned, but I think it’s best to watch the Marvel movies first in the order they were released. With all the post-credit teasers, plot twists, and character development, release order gives you the best introduction to each Marvel character and their place in the wider MCU.
The best way to watch all the Marvel movies is either in release order or chronologically. You can also watch it in order of best ranking or shortest to longest.

Black Widow’s solo film is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and before the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
Shang Chi isn’t technically an Avenger… yet. He meets both Bruce Banner and Captain Marvel in the post-credits scene of his solo film. But there has been no official confirmation of him joining the team, or if there will be another Avengers movie in the MCU’s future. He is, however, very likely to appear in other upcoming Marvel projects and get a sequel to his successful solo feature. As a Marvel fan and comic nerd, I often ask this question: What the perfect order to watch Marvel movies? How to Watch Every Marvel Movie in Perfect Order?
, you can start there and
